Do people enjoy better work life balance and are happier when they work remotely? No. Surprised? One of the main reasons cited for remote work is that the workers are happier. Does this mean that remote work is dying out? No. More companies and people are opting for at least working remotely part of the week.

Meanwhile Amazon recently mandated that everyone must work five days a week in the office starting January 2025. Large companies in other industries, Citibank, Walmart, Dell, AT&T, Salesforce, Bank of America, and even Zoom, the company that has profited immensely from the remote work trend, have ordered that from this point on, their employees must work at least 3 days a week in the office. This is confusing. What is the key to the much touted and desired work life balance for workers? How does a company manage a workforce that is demanding more freedom in how they produce for their employment?
